Electrostimulation (e-stim) is a niche but genuine category in sex toys, with a dedicated following and a clear set of safety rules that make it approachable once you understand them. If you're curious but uncertain, this guide explains what it is, what to expect, and how to do it safely.

What Electrostimulation Is

E-stim sex toys pass mild electrical current through the body, creating sensations ranging from a gentle tingling to more intense muscular stimulation. The mechanism is similar to TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) devices used in physiotherapy — the same basic technology, applied for different purposes.

The current causes nerves and muscles in the stimulated area to respond involuntarily, which creates sensations that are genuinely different from vibration, pressure, or temperature — a category of its own.

How E-Stim Toys Work
